Dr. Julie Deroo
Dr. Deroo purchased Ferris Lane Animal Hospital in Janaury 2013 after having worked as an associate here since 1999. Dr. Deroo obtained her Honors Bachelor of Science from the University of Waterloo and then graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1999 with her Veterinary Degree. She came to Ferris Lane after graduation and has never left! With a special interest in exotic species, she is a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians as well as the Association of Exotic Mammals. Dr. Deroo and her husband Jae have 2 Samoyeds (Loki and Banjo), a Silky Terrier (Tucker), a Micro Mini Pig (Hamlet) and an African Gray Parrot (Ozzy). She and her husband bought a home in the country and have various chickens, rabbits, birds, etc ruling their property! While Veterinary Medicine is the love of Dr. Deroo’s life, she also enjoys reading, cooking, Lego and taking a spin on her Forza!
Dr. Sam Rudkins
Dr. Rudkins was born and raised in Barrie and has wanted to be a veterinarian all her life. After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph, she attended the Ontario Veterinary College and made her dream a reality. She has lots of volunteer and work experience with dogs and cats, and is eager to learn more about pocket pets, reptiles and especially birds! Her veterinary interests include animal welfare, shelter medicine and surgery. When not working, Sam enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, Holly! She has several furkids: a Puggle (Moose), a Chihuahua (Coconut) and a cat (Pepper). Her hobbies include watching movies, travel, hiking, reading, cooking and trying vegan food. She is very excited to meet her new patients and their lovely families!

Janice Mullin
Janice joined the Ferris Lane Family in April of 2019.
She graduated as an R.V.T. from Seneca College in 2000 and has been a member in good standing for over 20 years.
She loves continuing Education and has attended conference in Florida, Las Vegas and Toronto.
She adores Golden Retrievers and is currently controlled by her Golden, Maple. (She’s a die hard Maple Leafs Fan!)
She loves the Dog Park and taking Maple wherever she wants to go. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family.
She enjoys working with clients, building relationships with them and their pets. She also finds dentistry particularly rewarding as she has seen it completely transform an animal’s quality of life.
Cobi Morris
Cobi Graduated from Georgian College in 2020. She knew from the young age of 7 that she wanted to work with animals! In her off time she enjoys video games, rock climbing, kayaking, knitting and playing basketball.
She has two dogs, Kyrian and Koda.
One of her work interests in anesthesia and also enhancing her new skills since graduating. Her favourite food is Mozzarella sticks!
Kathleen Grimes
Kathleen joined our team with an Arts Degree from Sheridan College. She is currently working on developing her portfolio in order to do free-lance illustrations and graphic design. She has administrative and receptionist experience and her quiet, mature and friendly nature makes all of our clients feel welcome. Favourite food – Sushi!!!!
Her two cats, Professor Cheesie Chester and Special Agent Pepperoni keep her on her toes!
Alisha Wishart
Alicia is a life long animal artist with a passion for animals. When she adopted Waffles, a tiny baby tortoise, 10 years ago, he opened up a whole new world of reptile rescue and husbandry. In that 10 years she has rehabbed, rehomed and adopted a number of tortoises and bearded dragons. She worked as an educator for Reptilia, teaching people about reptiles and snakes while still travelling around Ontario doing art festivals. Waffles also gained 100 pounds!
When Covid hit, Alicia found herself having to re-evaluate her career path. She starting working at Ferris Lane in 2022. She is currently also attending Georgian College working toward her Veterinary Assistant Degree. She still makes art on the weekends and enjoys spending time with her 2 mini Dachshunds, Obi and Daisy, 3 tortoises (Waffles, Mango and Tortellini) and bearded dragons Pickett and Potato.
She also likes Dinosaurs (Stegosaurus is her favorite!)
